Kanmani Sanitary Napkin Program

Welcome to Project Kanmani

Welcome to the Kanmani Sanitary Napkin Program, an initiative by Idhu Namma Avadi (INA) dedicated to advancing menstrual health and well-being in rural communities. Developed by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), this program combines awareness, education, and sustainable solutions to positively impact lives.

Our Mission:

At Kanmani, our mission is to create a meaningful difference in the lives of women by addressing menstrual health issues comprehensively. We believe in empowerment, education, and sustainability as the pillars of change.

Key Features:

Community-Driven Development: The program is designed and developed by SHG women, ensuring that it resonates with the needs and challenges faced by the communities it serves.

Holistic Approach: Beyond menstrual health, our program focuses on improving economic opportunities, preserving dignity, and enhancing access to education, creating a positive ripple effect in the community.

Financially Sustainable: We understand the importance of long-term impact. Our program is designed to be financially sustainable, ensuring its continued success and benefits for the communities involved.

Socially Acceptable: Cultural sensitivity is at the core of our approach. The Kanmani Sanitary Napkin Program is tailored to be socially acceptable within local communities, fostering trust and participation.

Biodegradable Solutions: The Kanmani pads are a step towards environmental responsibility, being 85% biodegradable by weight. We also prioritize teaching proper waste management practices to the communities we work with.

How We Make a Difference:

Health and Hygiene: By increasing awareness and promoting the use of menstrual products, we contribute to improved menstrual health, reducing health risks and enhancing overall well-being.

Empowering Women: Through education, economic opportunities, and dignity preservation, we empower women to take control of their lives and contribute actively to their communities.

Access to Education: By breaking down barriers related to menstruation, we strive to enhance access to education for girls, promoting a future where every girl can pursue her dreams without hindrance.

Get Involved: Join us in making a difference. Whether through volunteering, supporting financially, or spreading awareness, your contribution can help us expand our impact and reach more communities.

Empowering Women Through Education

By providing access to menstrual health education, we empower women with knowledge, enabling them to make informed choices about their well-being.

Sustainable Menstrual Hygiene Practices

The program encourages the use of biodegradable Kanmani pads and educates communities on proper waste management, contributing to sustainable menstrual hygiene practices.

Enhancing Economic Opportunities

Through the program, we create economic opportunities for women involved in the development and distribution of Kanmani pads, fostering financial independence and stability.

Breaking Stigmas and Preserving Dignity

We work towards breaking cultural stigmas surrounding menstruation, preserving the dignity of women and promoting an environment where they can openly address their menstrual health needs.

Improving Access to Education for Girls

By addressing menstrual health barriers, we aim to improve access to education for girls, creating a future where menstruation is not a hindrance to pursuing academic goals.

Fostering Community-Led Development

The Kanmani Sanitary Napkin Program is a community-driven initiative, developed by SHG women for their communities.
